Is Songtrust a Performing Rights Organization?

We aren’t, but we can help you manage them.

Songtrust is a publishing administrator that collects royalties on behalf of songwriters. These include performance royalties paid by such Performing Rights Organizations (PROS) as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and IMRO.

All songwriters must be affiliated with a PRO in order to use Songtrust and receive their fair share of royalties. If you are not currently a member of a PRO or CMO, you will need to apply directly on the collection society’s website. To help make this process as seamless as possible, we have created a Collection Society Database that includes the PROs or CMOs in each country and territory with their corresponding information.

If you're already set up, we can start collecting royalties on your behalf and administer as much or as little of your catalog as you wish. We will also help you manage your current PRO catalog and identify other potential sources of global and mechanical royalties, from nonprofit organizations like The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) to our vast network of local agents and societies around the world.

Please note that Songtrust is not directly associated with every society around the world. If we are not directly associated, this means that we are unable to register your works or collect royalties on your behalf from this specific society directly - you will need to do so independently of Songtrust. However, we can register and collect any royalties you earn in the territories it is earning in that we are operational with. For a list of our direct relationships, click here.
