Yes, you should still add the song into your own account
If your co-writer is with Songtrust, you should still add any songs you co-wrote into your own Songtrust account, regardless if that song is already in your co-writers account. This is because, when we send out songs for registration, it is not only to register the song itself globally but also to inform collection societies that Songtrust is now managing your publishing share for that song. If the song is not added to your Songtrust account, there is no way for us to know that we need to claim it on your behalf as well as on behalf of your co-writer who also added the song into their own account. If you do not add this song into your own account, your royalties will not be sent to us, regardless if said song is in your co-writers Songtrust account already.
If you add a song to your Songtrust account that is already registered with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO) by a co-writer, the registrations will find each other and merge as long as the information is correct on both registrations.
If you know your co-writer already added the song into their own account, make sure to also let us know via our Support Form so we can link the registrations via our backend system. Please make sure to include the email address associated with your co-writers account as well as the song name when submitting the form.
