Can a Band Join a Performing Rights Organization (PRO)?

Each member must submit a solo application.

Bands cannot register with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO) as a group. Each member must submit a separate songwriter application to the PRO of their choice.

However, all band members can be represented by the same publisher. There is no need to set up your own publishing entity in that case either, since Songtrust acts as your publishing administrator

We recommend using our Access feature if each member is a separate payee, but want the ability to add songs to all band songwriter accounts at once. If you’d rather have one single account and payee for the whole group, that also works. Songtrust will send detailed royalty statements each quarter that outline how much each account songwriter earned and ensures that everyone is paid their fair share.
