It depends on when the sync occurred.
Songtrust can only track sync placements that occur within our agreement. We are unable to track royalties for syncs that were licensed or aired before you signed up with us.
We don't take exclusive sync rights, so our clients are free to procure licenses as they see fit, and keep 100% of any upfront fees they negotiate for the master recording and underlying composition. Should clients choose to have Songtrust negotiate any sync licenses on their behalf (helping secure the best possible terms), we are be happy to do so at our standard 15% administrative fee for any upfront fees.
Any royalties generated from residual use — television TV broadcast, for instance — would be considered performance or mechanical royalties. As your publishing administrator, we can collect these royalties on your behalf and distribute them in your quarterly statement.
If you would like to submit a synchronization that took place within your agreement, please use our Support Form to submit a ticket and reach our Client Services Team.
