Copyright and piracy law

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a US federal anti-piracy law that makes it illegal to create and/or use technology that allows people to bypass measures intended to restrict access to copyrighted material.

The DMCA also criminalizes the distribution of copyright-protected material, and targets music, film, and software piracy in particular.
