What Is the Difference Between ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC?

One’s a little more exclusive than the others.

While they vary slightly in size and scope, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC are all Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) that collect performance royalties within the U.S. market.

One key difference: While ASCAP and BMI are open to everyone, SESAC is invite-only. If you are interested in comparing agencies and learning more about performance royalties, check out our complete guide to North American PROs here.
