What is an International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI)?
Is it different than an IPI?
An International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) is a global standard for identifying the millions of individual contributors to creative works, along with anyone who is active in their distribution. This includes researchers, inventors, writers, artists, visual creators, performers, producers, publishers, and aggregators.
ISNIs belong to a family of international standard identifiers that include recordings, products, and right holders in all repertoires. You can think of them as numbers that identify you across multiple platforms — unlike, say, an IPI number, which is strictly for songwriting.
Songtrust does not need an ISNI from our clients; just an IPI number.
