What is an Aggregator?

It’s a distributor focused on the digital side of things.

Unlike a full-service distributor that focuses on physical and digital releases, an aggregator enables artists to distribute their music on a global scale through specifically digital services like Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal.

Songtrust is not an aggregator; an aggregator typically charges artists an upfront fee and/or a percentage of the money earned on master royalties from the streaming or downloading their music. Songtrust monetizes only the composition, or publishing, side of music usage for our clients.

We recommend CD Baby and DistroKid for all of your distribution needs.
