This is required when your music is paired with a visual work.
A synchronization license (also known as a sync license) is granted by the owner or composer of a particular work. The license grants the purchaser the right to use a piece of music in such audiovisual works as a movie, video game, or commercial. Syncs have their own royalty stream, and are required on both the master and publishing side of your music.
At Songtrust, we do not take exclusive synchronization rights or actively pitch songs for sync deals, giving you the freedom to secure sync opportunities on your own. If we receive any sync requests on your behalf, we will forward them directly to you, as we are the administrator of record at PROs and often receive these requests for our clients. Should you need assistance in negotiating a sync deal, we can help with that for our standard 15% administrative fee on any upfront fees associated with the license.
