What Is a Public Copyright License?

This allows the general public to license the work.

A public license or public copyright license is a license in which the copyright holder(s) can grant additional copyright permissions to anyone in the general public. Essentially, a public license allows the licensor to let anyone in the general public become a licensee of the copyrighted work. By applying a public license to the work, the copyright holder(s) allow anyone to copy or change the work in ways that would otherwise be considered an infringement of their rights.

It is important to note that the licensor can apply their own terms and conditions to the public license, so make sure to check these before copying or changing the work to make sure you are not infringing on any conditions of said license.
