We recommend using your legal name.
You should enter your name and IPI number exactly as it is listed at your Performing Rights Organization (PRO). If you registered with your PRO under something other than your legal name, please enter that alias when adding yourself as a writer in your Songtrust account.
While a pseudonym is not uncommon, we recommend using your legal name. A common issue that arises with aliases is artists mix up their IPI numbers because they have both their legal and artist names registered separately with their PRO.
Make sure the information you enter matches your PRO exactly and you should have no problem. If you are wondering where you can enter your artist name or stage name, you can do so in the “Add a Recording” section of your account’s songs page.
