If you have your own YouTube channel, we can certainly claim videos on your behalf that you have uploaded yourself. We give you the option to "whitelist" your own channel (or any other channel) if you (or the channel owner) would like to monetize those videos yourself. Once we place a claim on a video, the channel owner can no longer monetize it. It's up to you whether you want us to monetize videos on your own channel or not.
